FixTrade introduces you to tradespeople. We are not the contractor. When you accept a quote, the contract for the work is between you and that tradesperson. They set their prices, they decide what the job needs, they carry it out, and they are responsible for it. We are not a party to it and we do not supervise the work.
Anyone can join FixTrade free as a guest, and a guest's qualifications, registrations and insurance are not verified by us. Do not read a listing on this site as a recommendation or as evidence that someone is qualified.
For work that is legally restricted — gas, most electrical work, and other trades depending on where you live — ask to see the registration and check it yourself with the body that issues it. In Great Britain, gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and you can verify any registration number directly at gassaferegister.co.uk. Checking takes a minute and is worth doing whoever you hire, including someone you found through us.
A quote comes from the tradesperson, not from us. Its price, its exclusions and its expiry date are theirs. Anything shown as an estimate before a tradesperson has seen the job is an indication of what work like yours typically costs, not an offer, and the quote you receive may differ.
Describe your job honestly, do not submit requests for work you have no intention of having done, and do not use the site to harvest tradespeople's details for anything other than the job you are asking about.
We are responsible for running this site properly and for handling your data as set out in our privacy notice. We do not accept responsibility for the workmanship, conduct, pricing or timekeeping of a tradesperson you engage — that is between you and them. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and none of it affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protections of your own country's consumer law and can bring proceedings there.
