FixTrade AI LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, operates this marketplace and is the data controller for it. This notice covers fixtrade.com only. The FixTrade workspace at fixtrade.ai has its own notice, and the relationship there is different: data a trades business captures about its own customers belongs to that business, and FixTrade only processes it on their behalf. On this site we collect from you directly.

This site is a preview. It is not taking quote requests yet. The job form does not submit, and nothing you type into it leaves your browser or reaches us. The sections below marked when requests open describe what will happen when they do, and are written in advance deliberately so the rules are published before any data is collected rather than after.

What this site collects today

One cookie, and no form data.

ft_country — records the country our edge network resolved for your connection, so the address field asks for the right thing (a postcode in the UK, an Eircode in Ireland, a PLZ in Germany). It holds a two-letter country code and nothing else, lasts 24 hours, and is first-party. It is not used to identify you, is not shared, and does not follow you to other sites.

Our hosting provider processes your IP address to serve and protect the site, which is ordinary server operation rather than something we store for our own use. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel and no third-party tracker on this site — see Cookies.

When requests open — what we will collect

Where the work is: the postcode or address you give us.
What needs doing: your description, and any photographs you attach.
How to reach you: your name, email address and, if you give one, a phone number.

When requests open — who sees it, and when

This is the part that matters most, so it is stated plainly rather than buried:

Before you accept a price, tradespeople who cover your area and offer that service see the job description and the area — enough to price the work. They do not see your name, your email address, your phone number or your full address.
When you accept a quote, your contact details and the address are passed to that tradesperson, and only to them, because they cannot come and do the work otherwise. That is the point at which the sharing happens, and accepting is how you agree to it.
If you accept nothing, your contact details are not passed to anyone.

Once a tradesperson receives your details they are a data controller in their own right, and how they handle your information from then on is governed by their own privacy notice, not this one. We are the introducer, not their supervisor.

Why we are allowed to hold it

To take steps you have asked for before entering a contract, and to perform that arrangement once you accept a quote. Where we go beyond that — for example asking whether the job went well — we rely on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the work itself.

How long we keep it

A request that leads to no accepted quote is deleted within 12 months. A request that becomes a job is kept for 6 years, because that is the period in which a dispute about work carried out can still be brought.

Your rights

You may ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to what we are doing with it, or ask for it in a portable form. Write to privacy@fixtrade.ai and we will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you gave us the chance to put it right first.
